Hyatt Great Scotland Yard Hotel
In 2020, renowned luxury hotel chain Hyatt’s management was planning the launch of their new hotel just minutes away from Covent Garden in London. The hotel, christened ‘Great Scotland Yard’ was built on the former site of the Metropolitan Police Headquarters. The building was known to have had many popular historical figures like Charles Dickens and Jack the Ripper frequent it during the 19th century.
For their launch, Great Scotland Yard were looking for a thick canvas tote bags manufacturer and decided to partner with Supreme Creations to create a range of products that could represent their brand message and identity perfectly through illustrations and printing. The client wanted the bags and pouches to look luxurious for tourists who would sport it around London.
In their brief for the project, Great Scotland Yard wanted Supreme Creations to maintain their enigmatic branding and build on the campaign hashtag #UnlockTheSecret. The client wanted the bags and pouches to illustrate the enigmas surrounding the hotel and its history. They also showed their interest towards using a medium weight fabric which could maintain its shape, and yet feel light enough for tourists to carry without a bother on their stroll through the capital city.
Choosing a premium fabric for a 5-star client
The choice of fabric for the project was largely motivated by the initial brief and the nature of client. A hotel chain which is known the world over for its 5-star service and offerings, deserved to be represented by a fabric which was as premium and luxurious as the hotel itself. After multiple rounds of internal deliberations, ’twill’ was selected as the fabric for the project due to its premium nature, which feels like something between cotton and canvas (medium weight).
Both the bag and the pouch were provided with a pocket to carry any small essentials and a woven label with the client’s logo was added on their side.
The most premium gold print available with Supreme was selected by the client as their choice for print colour. The gold not only signifies royalty and luxury, but gold foil printing is also one of the most popular print colour choices for 5-star hotels and estates.
A mystery captured
Supreme Creations matched Great Scotland Yard’s requirements by creating an enigmatic small square shaped tote bag which was 10oz canvas in black colour made with twill.
The bags and pouches displayed gold foil printing on one side and white print on the other side. They also sported a small pocket on the inside, which was enough to carry with ease small essentials such as phones, earphones, or cosmetic items.
