As 2024 comes to an end, we wanted to look back at some of the year’s most memorable product stories, as highlighted by our sales teams.
Each sales team manager was invited to select two standout projects and share the stories behind the development of these remarkable products. The goal was to uncover the context, experiences, and what made these products exceptional.
The goal was to learn more about the context, the experience, why they feel that it is an exceptional product.
Best Product Stories of the Year – Chapter 1
With the introduction of new digital print machines, improvements in our leather and structured bag and accessories department, and the unwavering can-do attitude of our factory team, 2024 was a year where our clients’ creativity truly flourished—all while staying true to the Bags of Ethics mission: to promote reusable behaviour through exceptional design for people and planet.
These are the first products that came to our desk.
STORY 1:
From Marion’s team – UK market:
I couldn’t be more excited when Refy reached out to us to produce their very first retail tote and pouch bags.
When Refy, an innovative UK-based beauty brand, reached out to us to produce their first retail tote and pouch bags, we knew it was a special project. Launching a lifestyle retail collection with a pop-up store in Covent Garden during London Fashion Week in February 2024, Refy wanted products that exuded luxury and minimalism.
The tote bag, made from 18oz heavy black canvas, features an oversized slouchy shape with a folded gusset inspired by a design from luxury brand Celine. After several pre-production samples, we perfected the unique construction, ensuring the canvas draped beautifully. A small silver minimalist metal plaque, engraved with the logo, was added, and an inside pocket hid the back rivet of the plaque. Additional details included an inner web tape piping and a woven patch for a premium finish.
The pouch bag, crafted in a triangular prism shape, closed with a silver zip and featured a chunky silver drop-shaped zip puller. The minimalist luxury aesthetic was on par with major accessory brands.
The pop-up was a massive success, with both the tote and pouch bags—proudly developed and produced by Bags of Ethics by Supreme Creations—featured in numerous fashion and lifestyle publications.
STORY 2:
From Ketrin’s team – Italian market
I really loved developing this product that was commissioned by one of our Italian brands based near Venice in Italy. The brand, UP2YOU, is a new lifestyle business which is selling various products that Manola, the business founder, personalise with embroidery by hand or her final customers.
Manola wanted a tote bag to personalise for her customers that was of a unique shape and fabric and with a winter look and feel.
She fell in love with our Newgen mini bag, a bag that we developed for the British Fashion Council under the brand “Bags of Ethics”. But how to make this bag unique and with a winter finish?
We thought about corduroy as it is a premium and warm fabric that looks gorgeous with embroidery on it. Manola then decided to pick 4 iconic colours: fuchsia, dark green, black and off white.
The bag itself has an inside padding to keep its squared shape and has a cotton lining. Of course, the brand label is stitched on the outside and the bags are closing with a magnetic pop-up.
At the end, this gorgeous collection has a luxury perceived value at a very reasonable cost. With creativity and a bit of expertise, there is always a solution to answer the brief of your customers.
STORY 3:
From Emanuela’s team – French market
This project was very interesting to develop, on the one hand because the client is a very famous contemporary artist gallery in Paris, so I knew from the beginning that the bag they wanted to develop had to be unique and of high quality for a clientele of art lovers.
I had received from them a black bag in nylon, which was not very qualitative from my point of view but with an interesting shape.
To make this bag more premium, I suggested to add a thin black cotton lining. Then, because we were dying and stitching a lining inside, I also suggested to print the logo inside and to make the bags reversible. The client was immediately very excited by the idea.
At the end, we have double down the brief with a versatile bag that can be folded and kept in a pocket or used as a day to day bag with a cotton side for sunny days and a nylon side for rainy days.
Next time, we can evolve the concept with a printed cotton or a different colour.
STORY 4:
From Agne’s Team – UK market
When The River Café contacted us to make a retail bag for them, I was excited very excited ad it was my very first oversize bag ever. The dimensions are massive, and we had to choose the perfect fabric thickness to be sure that the bag edges won’t flop around in an inelegant way.
The bags are printed with a giant The River Café iconic script logo created in 1987 by David McIlwaine. These 100% compostable totes are available in an energetic royal blue or in a striking black-and-white, combines style and sustainability.
Agne loved the oversize shape of the bag and the logo printed all around the bag.
